Guiding Light fans will get a triple dose of Survivor women this month. First up is two-time Survivor castaway (Survivor: Palau, Survivor: Guatemala), and fan favorite, Stephenie LaGrossa. LaGrossa guests on Guiding Light June 8. Apparently she'll be playing a waitress at Company. Following her appearance, two more survivors make guest appearances in Springfield this month. Survivor: Panama - Exile Island cast members Cirie Fields and Melinda Hyder show up on June 22. Fields plays a detective and Hyder will guest as a waitress. I'm a huge fan of both LaGrossa and Fields so this will be a nice treat to have them visit one of my favorite soap opera towns!
Reality stars are often making guest appearances on soap operas following their time on whatever reality show they starred on. What do you think of this? Do you think this is good exposure for them? Is it just a way to expand their 15 minutes of fame? Does it make you tune into soaps you might not normally watch? I'm really curious as to the effect it has on both reality and soap opera fans.
At the next to last Thursdday episode of Survivor, I had the
opportunity to watch it aired with Cirie (along with several other
people here in Walterboro.)
I have to tell you, I can't get over what a completely genuine person
she is. She is as good as gold, through and through!!!
CBS has announced a casting call for season 14 of SURVIVOR.
In 2006 a new group of Americans will experience trials and tribulations as they are eliminated one by one from yet another SURVIVOR program. The Sole Survivor will win $1,000,000.
An Open Casting Call for SURVIVOR 14 has also been announced.
An Open Casting Call is an event your local station holds for SURVIVOR. When you attend an Open Call, you will fill out an application and be put on camera there. You do not need to bring your own tape, and you do not need a copy of your passport. Open Calls alleviate the headaches and expenses of making your own tape, transferring it to VHS format and mailing it.
These events are also lots of fun. Meet fellow SURVIVOR fans, make some new friends, enjoy. Your local station will send the tape directly to the casting department, where it will be watched by the casting team and the same as it would be if you sent in an individual tape yourself.

CBS.com saves the best for last, as this finale version of Survivor Insider is undoubtedly the most interesting of the season. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it features the most dynamic personalities, Terry and Cirie. Find out what both of them think of their experience, as well as Mike's thoughts on the finale, inside!
Well, I was wrong about the outcome, but I would have been perfectly fine with it had I predicted the final two right – Terry and Danielle. No, instead, while everyone is cheering and exclaiming, "At least Danielle didn't win!" I'm over in the corner with my hand up, saying, "Yes, but Aras did." I can deal with lazy (Danielle) and arrogant (Terry), but what I can't deal with is disrespectful and hypocritical.
Game or no, with one threat, Aras proved that he was in it for nothing but the money. Which is fine – which is how it should be! But don't tell me you want to play the game with integrity and threaten your way into the final two. He even went so far as to try and say he ONLY jumped off because she gave him the nod. Sure. He looked for the nod because he knew he was screwed. So I just can't be happy about his victory in any sense. Except maybe that it wasn't Courtney.
One person I am deliriously happy for is Cirie. Not only for her well-earned fame (and let's hope they don't squander it like they did Rupert's, although I have the distinct feeling that was Rupert's doing) but that America agreed with me and voted her the Yukon. This whole infuriating season was almost made worthwhile in that one moment. Which leads us nicely to…
Cirie's Final Words: Her time there is up, she lasted 36 days, FAR beyond her expectations, she had a great experience, met interesting people, hopefully made friends, she's done some cool things like flying on a helicopter and riding on a yacht. She challenged herself in ways (does the "holds up her hands and gasps" thing), she's speechless. Her face is one of absolute wonderment and joy.
She hopes her family is proud (I would venture a guess that they are), sorry guys, she says she let them down, she couldn't keep the fire going. Geez, she lasts that long and she's apologizing. Why DON'T I love Cirie, you know? This has been the hardest thing she ever had to do in her life. And then she laughs that laugh, which, coming after that statement, pretty much sums up my feelings for Cirie right there.
For people like her out there, don't listen to the self doubt, don't listen to the underestimators, just try it, you never know what might happen. Look at her. Next to having kids, this has been the best thing she's ever done. The hardest thing, but the best. She's so thankful for the opportunity. She can barely keep it together. Just get off the couch, she says. Don't let life pass you by because you're on the couch. If she can do it, so can you.
Cirie on day one was so lost, she was like a newborn baby. She needed directions from the Lumberjack Lady (ironic, no?), she couldn't even find the water, and she had a map! She had no idea where to start, thankfully there were other people around. Otherwise, she would have died. Gradually, she watched and learned – and points out that she should have watched the fire more. She went from zero to my hero. Actually, she said she went from zero to being able to catch a fish and find other ways to get water, which she really doesn't recommend.
She overcame a lot of her fears. Dark woods, 36 days ago, would have had her pulling hairs out. Now she's used to nature. Well, she stops herself, she's not really used to nature because she still doesn't like the bugs. Hey, who does? BUT, she can be outside in the dark and not scream out loud, how about that?
Terry. Terry, Terry, Terry. No hard feelings, but she thinks there is a way to go about things with a little more tact and a little more sensitivity to other people's thoughts, and a little less… just stop thinking about yourself so much. She knows he's military and is used to being in charge. Be in charge of Terry, not other adult people, and put yourself in their shoes before you scold 35-year old adults. Or any adults for that matter.
She wishes them all luck, Aras especially. This was far beyond anything she expected. She watches the show, she knew the show. Not a chance. She was so ill-prepared. She doesn't think you can prepare. You may be athletic or (laughing) be able to start a fire, but there's no way to prepare for all the aspects. It is impossible. It's way past what she expected. She thought on day 15, a producer might bring out a banana and a coke or something. There's no help! It's crazy. It's the best thing that she's ever done in her life, and she's lasted 36 days!
All Cirie fans (and I know there are a lot of you out there) need to go watch this clip. And people who can't understand why people like me are smitten, go watch this clip.
Cirie, the Day After: She knew it was hard, watching it from home, but you just can't understand until you're here. I make fun of others for saying this, but I'll allow it from Cirie. It seems like a show, but when you live here, it's a rude awakening. When she realized that she probably should have done a little research, she thought, "uh-oh."
Her best time was when HB came and he got to see what she went through. The fact that she knew what to do and could show him made it her best time. Her lowest point was when she didn't get the family video. You mean the one Aras lost because he kept kicking out the flags? Prior to that challenge, she was feeling defeated and she just needed a boost. Something from the family would have been great, and lo and behold, that was the reward. And she didn't get it.
What made losing that reward bearable is when they came back, it was just Danielle, Shane, and herself. Shane had a little "scrotum problem." Thank God you can pause these videos, I just lost it. The way Shane went about it was so funny that she just kind of forgot about losing the reward. That lifted her spirits a little.
Referring to the fire-building tiebreaker, she thinks that when she's under pressure, she panics. She knew what to do and for some reason, she just didn't do it! She knew that she had to build a little teepee and let air get underneath the fire, but she just panicked under the pressure. She may have looked calm, but she was going crazy inside. "Shoulda, coulda, woulda, but it was too late."
Hopefully, she won't be as fearful of the unknown from now on. That's what kept her on the couch. One, she doubted herself, two, she was scared of everything. She was petrified at every challenge, and everyone would go up to her and try to comfort her. She wouldn't even know what the challenge is, just that there is a challenge and she may not be able to do it. Then when she would see the challenge, she'd think she couldn't do it. Hopefully that won't be a part of her life anymore, since she's overcome so much. Hopefully, she says, she won't be such a scaredy cat anymore.
Wall to Wall: Reward challenge. Since there was no indecisive woman to bully, Aras came in second. As usual.
Jeff Probst Interviews Terry: After reward, Jeff leads Terry to his table and offers to stay around and keep him company. Cool.
As Terry digs in to what, as he said, seems like a paltry plate of food, Jeff asks if he truly realizes what a social game this is. As a bug crawls on his chicken, Terry says he didn't mean to stick his foot in his mouth even though his wife predicted it. Does he think it will cost him? He thinks he has four votes: Austin, Sally, Shane, and Courtney. We know for a fact that the first three would have, and probably Courtney too. But what's interesting here is, as I thought, Terry doesn't care about friendships anymore.
Is he interested in listening to what people say about him? He's not perfect. It's a journey, and he's excited to make it to the final three. It's righteous. Is there anything he's most proud of? Winning challenges, as the old dude, and the survival part. He needs to work on the outwit part. Heh.
Last question, has he been able to get away from the game and look at his life in perspective? Being away makes you fonder, he can't wait to be home and see his kids. It's not any fun to be away from them. With that, Jeff lets him eat as Terry voiceovers that he hopes the "full on nutrition feast" gives him an advantage.
Balance of Power: Immunity challenge – and actually a cute title for a change. I've read all the morons on all the message boards complain that this challenge was unfairly slated to Danielle, because it was obviously custom-made for a smaller woman, not a big guy. What idiots tend to forget is that the challenges are set up beforehand. And that's not even mentioning the dozens of past challenges that seem to be unfairly stacked AGAINST Danielle. But then, "logic" and "message board" doesn't match.
Danielle Picks Her Partner: Danielle casts her vote for the final evictee. She votes for Terri, obviously not having figured out yet that Terry is male. She also pauses more AFTER writing the name down than before, as the episode would have you believe. "Terry, {whine, stomp foot (no, really)} this is the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. You're an awesome guy, I'm really going to miss you, and a great competitor. Sorry, don't hate me."
Terry's Final Words: He came into the game wanting to play it within my moral confines, to give and receive trust with a shake of a hand and a look in the eye, and not to lie to anybody. Except for a couple of white lies and lies of omission, like about his Navy career, he succeeded in all three of those. Not counting Ruth-Marie and Dan, of course, who you backstabbed and lied to. He's very happy about that. He was dealt a certain type of game to play, and he played the game he was dealt. It's been a hell of a journey, and he thanks Survivor for giving him the chance.
He realized tonight that the hidden immunity idol (which he then holds up to the camera – that's one HELL of a souvenir) along with the five immunity necklaces kept him out of the fire. In fact, he believes the only vote he ever received at Tribal Council was the one that just kicked him out. I believe he's right, although I'm far too lazy to look. The idol caused a lot of angst and pressure, even when he was the last La Mina. It took a lot of pressure off of every immunity challenge.
His biggest mistake was not winning the final four immunity challenges. He made two mistakes during that challenge and it cost him. When you play against someone like Aras, you can't make mistakes. He made two and it cost him. With that, he was unable to bring the idol into play to help Danielle, and had he given her the idol then, she would have definitely kept him. Not keeping the game in his own hands is what got him. He knew he was in to the three, but had he been able to use the idol strategically, it would have put him in the driver's seat for the finals.
Nothing to say to Danielle and Aras, she had a tough choice to make and he's not sure he would have wanted to be in her shoes. Personally, he thinks she made the wrong choice but she'll see tomorrow night. They're great competitors and great people. Heck of a journey, not bad for a 46-year old guy. He hopes he made his family proud and sure misses them. He already promised Cirie he'd work on his weaknesses and now he's promising us as well. Terry Dietz is not a perfect guy.
Terry, the Day After: He's feeling great. It was not fun to leave the game, but it was great seeing his friends, getting things to eat, talking about normal things outside the game, finding out about current events, sports, politics. Got some food, took a walk on the beach, it was like a vacation. He's been thinking about the "outwit" part since right before the merge, and it was nice not to have to think about it. He can't wait to see his wife and kids.
He's patient with his kids, but he's going to get real patient. His daughter is ten, about to become a teenager (whoo, can I relate), it's coming time for him to just listen. When daddy thinks he needs to put in his two cents, maybe he should just take those two cents, put them in the bank, and listen. He's going to try to perceive people better.
He hopes he didn't come across as the grumpy military guy, because that's not him. If he was like that it was because he was the La Mina guy with the target on his back and not allowed into the group. He was basically told he would never be part of the six by Aras and Shane (this was in the show, I remember it) so he decided he was going to wax them all the way to the finals. And he almost got lucky enough to do it – he was a pretty lucky guy.
He had about five strategies out there and he was 0 for 5. When it was himself, Sally, and Austin, they were going to give the idol to Danielle. She said she was going to get to the final four anyway, and they said OK, when they GET to the final four, they would give it to her and one of them would sacrifice themselves, guaranteeing her top three. They got desperate, he says. He kept winning, but he was never comfortable giving the idol to one of his guys because it would not have given them the numbers to ride all the way to the final four.
He's stoked to have gotten that far. Some of those challenges were so cool. Being able to play against the competition like the 24-year old college basketball stud, and waxing them most of the time. Heh.
Danielle will find out from her family, friends, and the ringing in her ears, she should have listened to the Navy guy. Not sure that she's thinking that, she lost either way.
Last Morning in Panama: What's funny, I almost stopped watching once Terry and Cirie were gone. Good thing I didn't, as I would have missed Aras fall flat on his ass. And bucko, if that's all it takes to smash your ego, I feel sorry for you.
Anyway, Aras and Danielle are thrilled to be in the final two. Aras thanks her again and gives her a big hug, which she doesn't seem thrilled about.
They go wash themselves and each other, with lingering shots of Danielle's huge tracts of land. Hey, I ain't complaining, that's about all she's good for as far as I'm concerned. Aras tries to be cool, but you know he's… well, you know he's probably glad the water is waist deep.
Danielle thinks people underestimated her intelligence in the game. That sound you heard was RNO Editor David Bloomberg's head exploding from laughing too hard. Everyone was supposedly so concerned about Aras/Terry and ignored other people who were as big or bigger threat than they were. Yeah.
Final Tribal Council: Hey, jury votes. Haven't had these in the last few years. Well, they didn't do them this year, as we only get a couple.
Did they do the right thing? Yeah, right. Choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.
Bruce votes for Danielle: "It's been an honor to share this game with you. Not only was it a great experience, but I know in the future you're going to hold this position with honor as the Survivor with the million dollars. (Oops) The best years of your life are yet to come." I guess, who am I to doubt Bruce's opinion? Danielle rules, I suppose.
Terry votes for Aras: "I am just so used to writing this name down. Of the two of you, you are head and shoulders the winner. Congratulations."
Lame. But appropriate way to end the Insider season. By being lame.
Aras Baskauskas walked away with the million-dollar prize on CBS' Survivor: Panama — Exile Island, but he faced some fierce competition as the field narrowed to the final four. Baskauskas faced off against consummate strategist Danielle DiLorenzo, who earned her spot in the final two after competing against Cirie Fields in a tie-breaker challenge. Cirie and fellow fan favorite Terry Deitz ultimately placed fourth and third, respectively, and while they didn't take home the ultimate prize, both will now be cruising around town in a brand-new GMC Yukon. An airline pilot, Deitz provided Baskauskas with the friendly rivalry that Survivor is known for, while Fields, a registered nurse living in South Carolina, proved to herself — and America — that perseverance and humor can help anyone survive. TVGuide.com sat down with the contestants the day after the series wrapped to get their take on their time in Panama. [Danielle was unavailable due to a personal matter and will be featured in a future Insider.]
Terry Deitz TVGuide.com: Congratulations on finishing third. Did you think you'd make it so far? I went into that final tribal council knowing I had no power, so I figured I made my nice pitch to Danielle and use the soft and mature approach. I went in there with the mind-set that I was going home.
TVGuide.com: Do you believe in the "car curse"? No. I didn't even know about the "car curse," and I'm not superstitious. I had to win everything anyway. It wasn't so much about luck as skill.
TVGuide.com: As one of the older players, you certainly gave the younger survivors a run for their money. How did you keep your game so tight? Having 20 years of life over a lot of the other contestants — I've got a wife, kids, mortgages — helped me focus. [Aras walks into the room, and he and Terry exchange high-fives.] It was tough to bring the A-game. I could never make a mistake against this guy [Aras], because he would eat you alive. But I did, he took advantage of it, and that was the ballgame. It happens.
TVGuide.com: When you found the immunity idol on Exile Island, did you have any clue how pivotal it would prove to be in the game? I didn't know how much mental game I was going to have to wrap around that thing, but I knew it was ultimately important. In the beginning of the game, it didn't have that much meaning to me because I had a strong alliance over at La Mina. But at the merge, it was everything.
TVGuide.com: It's clear you and Aras are all smiles now. Was the relationship that was portrayed on TV simply a friendly rivalry? We were able to take that personal edge off the competition right after the [final four] immunity challenge. We had a discussion, there were apologies given, and we squared it away. It then turned into something really nice. He's a great kid and a winner. Like me, he never sat down at camp — he was fishing, snailing, getting wood. He was good in challenges and a formidable opponent. He deserves it.
TVGuide.com: What did you learn about yourself doing Survivor? One of the biggest things I learned was that if you have a message to get across to somebody, look for lots of different ways to do it. There were some times — and you can even ask my wife and kids — that I'll just blurt things out, thinking, "It's all black-and-white and I'm the boss." On the island, you need to take a step back and look at the situation in a different way.
TVGuide.com: What's next for you? There are bigger things out there. [I'm back to work as] a pilot, and I'm going to look into the entertainment side of things and see if there's any need for Terry Deitz and what he can offer.
TVGuide.com: Would you do Survivor: All Stars if asked? I'd do it all over again.
Cirie Fields TVGuide.com: Congratulations on fourth place! Did you ever think you'd make it this far? Not in a million years! I'm still spinning. I'm waiting to wake up any minute.
TVGuide.com: You stood for many Americans who perhaps thought that they could never make it to where you did on Survivor. What kinds of reactions have you gotten from fans of the show? The comments I get are, "We're really proud of you," "You're so inspiring." I kind of inspired myself. I basically learned how to survive while I was there. [Before Survivor] I have been my biggest obstacle. I've lived in fear and comfort, and was comfortable eating chips on the couch!
TVGuide.com: You seemed to fly under the radar in terms of making your strategy known. When did it click for you that you needed to develop a strong game plan to succeed? I started playing the game on the boat to the island. I wasn't in a position to make any power moves for a very long time, but at the same time, I'm still playing. When I was told I would be the next to go, the only thing I had in my mind was to give these people a reason to keep me around. So I worked my butt off!
TVGuide.com: You surprised America with your play. But what surprised you most about Survivor? I watched every season of Survivor going in, and each year I would download the application but never do anything with it. Watching it from home, it's like, "Well, they're camping. I can do that." The people [on previous seasons] make it look so easy, and when I got there I was like, "What the hell have I gotten myself into?!"
TVGuide.com: What did you learn about yourself doing Survivor? There's nothing that's ever going to stop me from going for [my dreams]. I just stopped being afraid and living in self-doubt. There's no stopping me now. I will not waste another day. There's so much out there that I want to do and it's crazy, but I almost feel born again, like a totally different person. I'm so grateful for this opportunity.
TVGuide.com: What's next for you? I don't know. [Laughs] I literally feel like the sky's the limit and we'll just have to wait and see. I've been working [as a nurse] and Melinda from the show wants me to try to do some motivational speaking with her. I'll give it a try. [At least this time] I'll have a bra on!
Cirie can't believe that she is the newest Survivor celebrity! Despite her being in high demand, RealityNewsOnline was able to talk to her at length about her thoughts on the game. What didn't we see that would have helped us make sense out of some things? What was she doing behind the scenes? How did she become such an integral part of the game? And where will she go from here? Cirie answers all of these questions and much more!
Cirie has become the most popular Survivor of the season, a fact that has amazed her! Indeed, even during this interview, Cirie was interrupted several times by people walking by who just wanted to tell her she should have won or congratulating her on how well she did. But she made the time to talk to RealityNewsOnline.
RealityNewsOnline: Hello, Cirie! I know you are all busy, so let's get right to it. How did you prepare for Survivor?
Cirie: I started working out, and got myself a personal trainer. I changed my diet, and I started running. I never ran before unless someone was chasing me! I really wanted to give it a try. They told me from the first call [for auditions for the show] that I needed to get fit. I wanted to show them I was trying my hardest when I went back for my second interview. So I worked out like a nut. I also got a survival guide book, and actually did look at how to build a fire. But it didn't stick with me, I forgot all of it.
RNO: Did you study up on strategy or make any plans for the social aspect of the game?
Cirie: I watched every single episode of the show, and as I'm watching the shows, I'm screaming, "No, don't do that! Don't say anything!" And that's where I got most of my strategy, from seeing what people did wrong. I went in there knowing what I didn't want to do.
RNO: Which makes you smarter than probably 90% of the players.
Cirie: Thank you! When Tina made the comment about what show I thought I had signed up for, I had watched every one. Tina and I were exact opposites. She wondered what game I was playing, but I wondered about her – she didn't play the social game.
RNO: That was exactly what I thought as well when I watched. Speaking of the social game, what was your original strategy?
Cirie: I knew that there would be challenges, and they would be physical and I wouldn't win any of them. So I went in to work hard, to be irreplaceable to the team. That way when we had to vote, they would think maybe she's not great in challenges, but she does everything around here. I wanted to stay out of the drama but form alliances and feel people out to determine who I should trust and who I shouldn't. Basically I wanted to fly under the radar until I was in a position to make any moves.
RNO: How did you go from being the next person to go on Casaya to having an alliance with the very people who had promised to send you packing?
Cirie: When they told me that [I was going next], at that point, I wouldn't have been the first person voted off, and Survivor was so much more than I thought it would be. So after Tina went, I figured I could go and it would be okay. But then, I just started working really hard. Shane was pretty much a dictator. He thought he did a lot, but all he really did was the fire. He would ask me to get this and that. I was running around like a maniac, doing anything anybody needed. They noticed that other people weren't working as hard as I was. At some point, Shane came to me when we lost and said, "you aren't going anywhere." I was like Shane's secretary. Whatever he needed, I got it for him. And that went for anybody. I hated getting water, but I had to do what I had to do to stay around.
RNO: Did you ever have any idea you would become the most popular contestant of the season?
Cirie: Never in my wildest dreams. I mean, I dunno, I'm still in awe. I can't even fathom why. I know I'm silly and play around a lot. But this is so much more than I anticipated. It's an honor that people feel that way about me. I never thought it would be like this. Un-fricking-believable!
RNO: Do you think Danielle played the game as well as she seemed to think she did, or was she more of a tool used by other people?
Cirie: The very first day of the new tribes day, Danielle and Courtney were the queens of the tribe – Danielle didn't do anything at all. Courtney and Shane basically dictated what we needed to do. That was fine with me. But I think Danielle started to realize she might be in some trouble the day Shane asked her why she wasn't working. I think Danielle said to herself, "I need to start doing something." But I can't really blame her because she was safe and comfortable, so she didn't have to work as hard or really do much of anything. If I was in that position, I might have done the same thing.
RNO: Several times Danielle talked about playing the game in a smart way – what did you think about that?
Cirie: One big move she made was getting rid of Bobby, and she was really smart on that. Outside of that, I didn't see anything or any power moves Danielle did. Danielle was basically carried most of the time in my opinion.
Cirie: Yeah, after I convinced her! It was hard, I had to keep convincing her. She kept saying, "Are you sure?" I reassured her, and told her not to question me again after she saw it would go that way. The only way I got her to vote against Courtney was that Courtney had said some things about the final two, and Danielle told me about Terry winning the car. I told Courtney and Courtney said she now had some trust issues with Danielle, which I let Danielle know.
RNO: Did you consider trying to make a deal with Terry to get rid of Danielle at the final four vote?
Cirie: I did not, because I talked with Terry and asked how he would feel about going to the final two with me. He was frank said nobody would be able to beat me, so I didn't even waste my time.
RNO: Why did you vote for Aras?
Cirie: From about day three, the day Shane told me I would be the next to go, Aras told me he would never write my name down. He kind of took care of me. In a game like this, you're not trying to help anybody. You want them to break down. I feel like Aras is a really selfless kind of person. He does things for people. The stuff he did for me was not for a jury vote. He didn't do anything I perceived as just for jury votes. He's a great guy, he worked hard and he deserved to win.
RNO: Why did you say at the reunion that you would have voted for Danielle if she had taken Terry to the final two?
Cirie: Danielle and I had been aligned since we got Bruce, and Danielle and Bruce had a bond that she pulled me into. Danielle told me everything and I felt I cold trust her. Until the final four, she had never done anything I knew about to get rid of me. She had been true to our alliance. [My vote] wouldn't have mattered [to the result], but I would have voted for her out of friendship. Terry never really talked to me much, and Danielle would tell me everything that was going on. I owed her that at least.
RNO: The part about you and Danielle being so close was never really shown. It's too bad we didn't see that.
Cirie: No one knew about me, Danielle, and Bruce at all – not even Courtney. If too many people know what you're doing, your plan is out there to be broken or foiled. I was happy we could keep that under wraps. I felt like if I didn't take Danielle on the reward, she could have talked to Courtney. I didn't want to give them time to talk and I wanted to reinforce our alliance.
RNO: If you could change one decision you made in the game, what would it be?
Cirie: Hmmm. The decision not to practice making fire that day regardless of whether Danielle was there or not. I was going to practice by myself, but Danielle wouldn't let me get away. I don't know why I didn't want to do it in front of her – if I didn't do well, I didn't want her to see that. The only thing I would have changed is I would have practiced in front of her.
RNO: Your plan for getting rid of Courtney may be the most complicated strategic maneuver on Survivor to have actually worked! How did you come up with your idea, and how did you ensure that it would succeed?
Cirie: Around camp, Terry was there and kicking our asses. We couldn't stand him. But for some reason he had seemed to take a liking to Courtney. She's a great girl, but the only reason I could see for him spending time with her was because taking her to the final two would guarantee him a million dollars. Courtney came to me and asked me to go along with them, and I'm not stupid, I knew I was number four.
Then Shane said he was going to get rid of Aras, and then he would take Courtney to the final two. I felt like that was my spot and she was blocking it. I knew people wouldn't want to take me because I hadn't pissed people off, so I wanted to be the only other option. Whoever was standing in my way of going to the final two was going. I thought it would be Terry going to the end, bringing whoever he thought he could win with, and that's who I wanted to get rid of. I had to tell Aras what Shane said, and I had to tell Danielle about the Courtney trust issue thing, and it worked out.
RNO: Forgetting the physical aspect of the game, you seemed to be the best player this season as far as strategy.
Cirie: Thank you.
RNO: To what do you attribute your success on that level?
Cirie: Watching the show is part of it. But I work in an operating room, and that is the best – I think they should send all the finalists to work in the operating room. That place prepared me for the social aspect of it. I interact with tons of people from all walks of life and I can pick up on things easier. I know when to shut up, I know when something is about to go down. I can kind of pick out what each person needs. I don't know if it's from having patients and having to give them what they need. I really believe that helped me a lot. I think that's why people felt so easy and relaxed with me. I would give each person what they needed.
RNO: Other than putting your couch up for sale, how has your life changed since getting back?
Cirie: The response from the public hasbeen ridiculous. I feel almost silly. I live in a really small town, about the size of a nickel. I couldn't go anywhere, they were all so proud, they said I was inspiring. I couldn't believe they wanted my autograph. It's been really flattering and great for my self-esteem. Nothing but positive.
RNO: Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about your time on Survivor?
Cirie: It was the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. Before the game begins, we meet with everybody and they tell us it will totally change your life. I listened but I figured it was a routine speech they gave everyone. I did not know the impact it would have on my life. It really, truly has changed my life. It opened my eyes and freed me. I was in my own prison of self-doubt and fear and being embarrassed. Now the world has seen my boobs, I have nothing else to hide. But it saddens me to think of all the time I've wasted being afraid. I could have wasted another 25 years and wishing I'd done this. That made this experience so much more than I anticipated it to be. And now I'll do anything – what do I have to lose?

DR: Let's start it out with Terry and Cirie. What's up guys? Welcome, number 3 and number 4.
JM: Two of the more popular contestants ever.
DR: I'd say the most, judging by reactions that I was getting from people and obviously in the house last night.
JM: Lots of cheers.
DR: Lotta fans, huh? Let's talk about the big finale and what we saw. You and Aras had this huge rivalry, Terry. You sort of mend fences a little bit. Tell me what that process was like?
Terry: First of all, last night was a blast. It was so much fun. The rivalry between Aras and I, a normal competitive rivalry at first. Then it got a little personal after the family visit thing. There were some things said and some misunderstandings. In the long run, America likes a fight and America likes a makeup. We were both man enough to sit back and listen to what each other had to say. We didn't have this problem until that point. We both came to an understanding. He's a great guy. A really good competitor. You can't make a mistake against the guy. What Danielle was saying in the final episode, she was kind of narrating, it wasn't like that at all. We really came to a meeting there and it was good.
DR: Cirie, obviously you guys had some moments with the whole torch dropping thing and stuff. When did that get cleared up? Obviously you guys have mended some fences.
Cirie: We have. In the game emotions are high. I kinda felt like Terry was a little bit upset when we got rid of Shane. Stress levels were high and we had our little thing but then we talked. And it's all in the game. I think Terry is great now.
Terry: She's a beautiful lady.
JM: Everyone was getting on everyone's nerves.
Terry: Exactly and I should have kept my mouth shut. Just picked up the torch and whatever. It didn't happen. It just came out. It's funny because the first time I saw the Casaya members talking about it was in the tape and they go, "He's just mad because we voted off Shane." You know what, she was spot on. And I was and it got out of hand. That was a bummer. It was almost like a family fight. Then we cleared it up.
DR: Last night we had the Finale and then the Reunion and then the GMC Back Exile Yukon after party and all this stuff. It's funny because of the final four, you two seem to be having the best time out there. Aras felt some relief and Danielle...it's very hard to come in second, you're that close. You guys look like you were just having a great time.
Cirie: I was having a blast.
JM: Also kind of the way you came out. You [Cirie] didn't really get voted out, you lost the fire challenge fair and square. And you [Terry] knew you were a competitor and were supposed to get voted out the entire time. You lasted as long as you could and it was your time to go. It's not so bad to go out in the game the way you guys went out.
Cirie: Right, I was content.
DR: Let's take a look at that fire challenge. Cirie had that fire going, we thought she was good.
<video of fire challenge>
DR: I've never found the fire making challenge to be exciting at all. We saw Bobby Jon and Stephenie. This one was really tense. If you could hear people in the audience watching it. Your fire was up, everybody was cheering, Danielle's was up, her fans were cheering. It was crazy. Were you sneaking a peek over at hers while you were doing yours?
Cirie: I was because I had only made fire one other time. I could hear Jeff. Jeff kind of makes me crazy. I'm not good under pressure and Jeff's saying, "Danielle's fire is getting bigger. Cirie needs to hurry up." So I want to see what she's doing. Why is her fire bigger than mine. And you know, hey, I tried, couldn't get it.
DR: I think it was a very admirable effort.
Caller: First I want to say that the two most deserving people to win Survivor are sitting on there right now.
Cirie: Awww, thank you.
Terry: Alright!
Caller: Cirie, you almost had no chance from the very beginning. You played the game so well but at the beginning did you think for just one moment that you would ever make it that far?
Cirie: Oh, no. Before I even got to the island I thought maybe I'd last about six days. And at one point, once Tina went home, I was kind of hoping they would vote me out. It was just too miserable. I hadn't been there that long. I hadn't gotten the desire to want to stay yet. So I was hoping, Shane said I was next, I'm just waiting. Then after being there for like 15 days then I didn't want to go. I could never anticipate staying there for as long as I did.
Caller: Terry did you honestly believe Danielle was going to take you to the final two after she had betrayed you so many times?
Terry: If one of us had won the I-4 Challenge, if I had won it, I would have given her the hidden immunity idol and we would have been kind of indebted to one another at that point. And yeah, I think she would have taken me. She had given me her word and I believed it. What happened was, near the end, I knew we had a little pact on Exile Island but then she also had a pact with Aras. Both of those seemed to me to have went away, from watching the tape. She went off and she made her own decision. At that point it just came down to who she thought she had the better chance of winning. Personally, I think she made the right decision.
JM: She said to you that if you would have given her the idol she would have taken you. Maybe that played a little bit in her decision.
Terry: I didn't vote off anybody that was on the jury.
JM: Also, Aras was kind of threatening her.
Terry: It's one of the the things about this whole Casaya thing. They had this tight relationship. It was this brother/sister thing where he could get in her face and say how disappointed he was. I, on the other hand, did not have that type of relationship where they wouldn't let me in there. So I didn't have that relationship. So I had to use a different approach. I could just piss her off and she'd be spiteful, "I'm not taking you." I used the like, more mature type approach. People on the jury would not have animosity towards their old Casayamate. That type of maturity thing, not because I'm older.
DR: Once she takes out the pen and paper and starts jotting down votes, that's going to make her decision.
Caller: Congrats for making the top four. Cirie, they seemed to find you the mother of that whole tribe. If you had been voted out early do you think that tribe would have literally gone all to pieces. And, Terry, if La Mina had stayed whole through the entire thing, would you be like considered the father of the tribe if you had merged with more La Mina than Casaya.
Cirie: I don't know. I think they would have been great without me.
DR: You were staying out of the way for awhile. You had to let them act dysfunctional so you could get in there.
Cirie: I don't know if they would have stayed together if I wasn't there because they hated each other. I was somewhat like a mediator. When Aras would tell me things about Courtney I would...especially one time he got really angry at Courtney. I kind of told him, just take a walk.
Terry: The whole leadership role on the La Mina tribe when I first got there...they were calling me Poppa La Mina and Poppy and all this stuff. I personally wanted to direct a lot of that leadership stuff towards Dan the astronaut. And then for me to kind of do what Aras did, kind of take a role in the challenges. I didn't necessarily want to step up and become a leader. It kind of ended up that way. At the merge I probably still would have tried to keep Dan up there as the leader and elder in the tribe.
DR: I imagine the hardest part of the game for you was getting rid of Dan.
Terry: That was bad. That was extremely difficult.
Caller: Congratulations for an entertaining season. My dad was rooting for you because he was class of '79 and you guys went to the same flight school. My question is, what was not shown on TV that really contributed to Aras winning the game?
Cirie: I think a lot of what Aras did for other people out there wasn't shown. At one point we hadn't had fire for like 3 or 4 days. We didn't have any water. Aras came to me and Melinda and said, "Guys, we can get water off these leaves. We can lick these leaves." He did that type of stuff all the time. He would get these cactus plant things and cut them up like watermelons and like basically force you to eat them. He took care of everybody. I don't think he did it for jury votes. I think he did it because he cares about people. And that's why he's a millionaire right now.
Terry: I think from the I-9 challenge in one of the things that was brought up that I saw that you didn't see so much of was, Aras became the target of the hidden immunity idol. Anytime we could get somebody to flop, he was going. It was no longer Shane. We realized who we needed to get rid of from the Casaya side. There was a lot of under...backyard deals or back room deals going on. Cirie instigating a lot of them to my detriment. And I loved watching her play it. Sometimes you didn't see that stuff because he continued to get saved or the alliance we were trying to make to get somebody to flop would go away. Aras was saved and not enough people recognized that but he was under stress at every Immunity Challenge. He would voice that sometimes. But he was the guy we were going for. They came through somehow and messed up the alliances that we were trying to make and it worked.
DR: You saw that look of satisfaction on his face at each tribal council when asked "is anyone using the hidden immunity?" We've got to take a a quick break.

Probst's thoughts (Cirie): Cirie knows this because I've already told her this. She's one of my favorite people to ever play the game. When I first met Cirie she was doing this and jumping up and down in the casting room and "I can't believe I'm here, oh my gosh." She kept doing it and we finally said, "Cirie if this is an act, stop." She said, "It's not an act, I'm really excited." We all sat there and kind of looked around and said, "We've got to put her on the show. But you're never going to make it". The fact that Cirie got up off the couch and said, "I want to try this", is what made her so inspiring. Watch out for Cirie because she aint no pushover.
DR: Gotta like what you hear from Jeff Probst?
Cirie: I do. I like Jeff. Jeff has said so many great things about me that he didn't have to say but I loved him before that anyway.
JM: You said you felt like Survivor really did change your life. Maybe more than most people that go on the show.
Cirie: It did because I used to be afraid of failing, afraid of being embarrassed. I was safe at home on the couch. I would go to work, I would come home. America has seen all my flaws. There's nothing left to hide. There's nothing left to be embarrassed about. I'm still in awe of how far I made it. I just think back, what if I didn't try. I wasted so much time. I feel like I don't ever want to waste another minute of a day not doing something or getting further or pushing myself. Because look what happened the first time I tried.
DR: Jeff Probst did have some nice things to say about you but someone else [Jenna Morasca] has had some not so nice things to say about Terry Deitz! All season long. Mr. Deitz, Tom Westman got this similar treatment during Palau. Did he give you any tips or pointers for dealing with Miss Morasca?
JM: Tom Westman didn't take it nearly as well as Terry is taking it.
DR: What are you thinking? You're hearing things, you're seeing Morasca.
Terry: I do have something for you. The first thing is for Dalton, it's from my son's baseball team. This is the famous managerial hat, from the second episode. I'm a sports guy. My father coached high school sports for 30 something years. Jenna, this is for you. When I said this is my Joe Torrey managerial hat, you didn't know who Joe Torrey was. You live in NYC and this man just won his 1000th game as a New York Yankee manager. This is Joe Torrey. [holds up baseball card]
Caller: I wanted to congratulate both of you. I think you two should have been the top two. Cirie, you're an inspiration to all of us 30-something couch potatoes. How hard was it for you to go from being a couch potato to doing all those competitive physical challenges.
Cirie: Oh. It was extremely, extremely hard. I knew going out there that I wouldn't be a physical threat. I hated treemail. When they would say treemail, I was like, oh my God. My nerves would just be a wreck. Bruce would come to me and say, "You just gotta believe." It's because I didn't know if there would be a challenge that I couldn't do. I felt if there was something I couldn't do that I would essentially have to quit. I didn't want to quit. I promised my family that I would stick it out. If I hadn't been given this opportunity I wouldn't know that I could at least help out in a challenge. I know that I didn't win any physical challenges but I was there and I participated and I did as good as I could. If you want to get off the couch, I recommend that you train for about a year. I only had about two or three months to try to prepare for the show. I think if I had longer I might have been better in the physical part of the show.
JM: The athletes have trouble with the challenges on this show. Terry, you're probably one of the strongest people we've seen in awhile. You have to say that they are tough. They mess with your head, they mess with your body.
DR: We heard that caller say they wish you were in the final two. You're both extremely, extremely likeable with a lot of fans. I always said that if you two were in the final two it would be so tough. You both played the game so well but in such different ways. You're [Terry] dominating in the challenges. You're [Cirie] doing nothing in the challenges but dominating socially and strategically. That would have been a really tough call.
Terry: She trumped every move I made.
Caller: Cirie and Terry you are absolutely my favorite players this season. I think it's time we break the way the final two selections have been made so that we don't end up with one weak player and one strong player. I want to see a final two where the two best players are in it whether it's strategically, physically, whatever. How do you think we can make that happen?
JM: I think we can not give credit to the past final two. There's always going to be someone who is stronger than the other. That doesn't discredit them at all for getting there.
Terry: I think where that starts is after the 3, 4, and 5. That's where the stronger players are making inroads to try to get a weaker player with them to take them to the finals. That's where you have a bunch of the stronger players trying to do their magic.
JM: That's why you didn't win that last challenge. That's why it's so important.
DR: I think this season was a great final four. Danielle we didn't see a lot from at all until the end. She had to win that fire challenge, she did it. She had to step up in that last Immunity Challenge. Danielle was going to be up there all day long.
Caller: Terry, what would you do if they asked you to do an All Star game?
Terry: Oh, in a minute. When I first got home I told my wife and kids there's no way I'm leaving them again. I'd been out to sea for long periods of time but never away from my wife and kids. About a month later my wife said, "Would you do it again?" I said, "Yeah. I'd go again." It was that great of an experience that I would do it again.
JM: You know you'd be a huge target.
Cirie's Time Capsule: Well, Cirie, good luck. Stay focused. You're not here to make friends, you're here to win the money and change your life. Watch out for the backstabbers. Don't let the bullsh*t get to you. Do a great job.
Terry's Time Capsule: Terry, congratulations on winning the million dollars. Well, if you didn't get that far, I'm proud of you. Your family's proud of you, your friends are proud of you. What an experience, it couldn't have been better. People around here are great, everybody in casting and production. The whole set up, it's something everybody should get the chance to do.
DR: First of all, Cirie, you little potty mouth!
Cirie: That is really strange. I don't even remember saying any of that. I was so afraid.
JM: They make you wait forever.
Cirie: I didn't mind the wait. I was like, "Oh my God, they're going to make us start." If we had to swim to the beach! I remember that one show were the two people didn't make it to the beach. They didn't even get a chance to play. I was just in fear the whole time. The interviews were fine with me. As long as we did interviews I knew we couldn't play the game.
Caller: I wanted to tell Cirie that we are very proud of her and she is so pretty.
Cirie: That's my best friend's son.
Caller: Cirie, great job, really wanted you to win. Now that you're back from having your first wilderness adventure do you plan to go camping soon?
Cirie: I'm going to take my kids camping. When they saw the fish episode they were like, "Ma, you know how to fish?" We're going to go camping and fishing. When I say that I've been on the couch for 35 years, I have. Essentially by me staying on the couch I've kind of kept my kids on the couch. I don't want to do that to them. I don't want them to have to wait 30 or 40 years for something like this to change their life.
DR: We've been hearing a lot about this couch. Is it a pull out couch?
<laughter>
Cirie: It's really comfortable. It's fluffy and it has pockets so I can have everything. See that's what kept me on the couch. Everything I needed was right there. I have the remote, I have a place for my drink.
Caller: What did you do to prepare for the show and in hindsight what would you have done differently to get ready for it?
Cirie: I started working out. I got myself a personal trainer who was actually one of the surgeons I work with, his name is Karl Stiegler. He helped me tremendously. I think I would have done a little more. While Dr. Stiegler was there with me I would work really hard because I didn't want to let him down. He was taking out his time to help me. On the days that he would be on call or he wasn't around, I would kind of slack a little bit. I would still go to the gym but I wouldn't do the whole regiment. I knew this was going to be hard but I think if I had a little more time and had worked a little harder I would have been a force to be reckoned with.
Terry: I pretty much stayed with my normal workout. I do some Pilates and running and lifting. Then I added in swimming. I used to swim a lot but hadn't in awhile so I got back in the pool. That's about the only thing I added to it.
Cirie: I have to add two more things. I would have taken swimming lessons. I can swim from like point A to point B. I thought that would be good enough. That was my first time being in the ocean, the first challenge. It kind of just freaked me out. I would have done that and I would have practiced making fire.
Terry: We watched more videos, more reruns of past seasons.
JM: So what's up for you guys next? Big plans?
Cirie: I'm going back to work. Melinda and myself, she kinda wants me to try some motivational speaking things with her. I might try a little bit of that. I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just waiting to see.
Terry: I'm going back to American Airlines on Sunday, back down to the Caribbean. Doors might open. I'm willing to jump through them and see what else is out there. No telling what can happen.
JM: American Airlines is a great airline, by the way. Good first class.
DR: Well guys, you were both fantastic this season. Fan favorites and made it very far and played the game in very different ways. You both did a great job. It was great to have you guys here.
Survivor Finale Reactions (Transcript by SurvivorFever.net 5.15.06)
CBSNews.com's Amy Bonawitz talks to the cast of Survivor: Panama minutes after the live finale. View the video at CBS.com
Amy: In looking back, what was your strategy?
Aras: My strategy going in was to make relationships with everybody out there. To try to be myself and actually to be as honest as I could be. From there everything evolved. It's a game that keeps evolving so you have to evolve and you kind of have to change and be willing to be flexible. I think the most challenging part was not having the food or the rest. Just physically getting beaten up. It's an emotional roller coaster as well but physically it was real tough.
Danielle: This was just such an unbelievable experience and regardless of the results I'm still so proud of myself that I made it as far as I did.
Amy: Is there anything that you would have done differently? Looking back?
Danielle: I don't like to look back in regret, ya know. The decision I made at the time, that's what I thought was the right decision.
Amy: What's next for you?
Danielle: I'm open for anything. I'm ready for the next stage of my life. I would love to do acting, modeling. Umm, spokesperson. I'm totally open and ready for something new and challenging. I love a challenge.
Jeff Probst: I'm completely happy with Aras winning. I think he has...honestly between Aras and Danielle, I think Aras deserved it. I think he's a good winner. It's a hard game to do. I learn that more and more each season and I hear it a lot from Julie who's been out there. I like to see a guy who's fought hard and won.
Amy: What keeps Survivor fresh? Why do you think America keeps watching?
Jeff: I think Survivor really appeals to a couple of things. There's the whole being stranded in the middle of nowhere. Which you could be in the wrong part of town or on an exotic island. I think there's also that whole being picked last. Whether you're being picked last on the basketball court as a kid or whether you're the first guy laid off at work. Those are two big themes that resonate. I think you watch it and you're like, "man that could be me."
Amy: So what do you think about the whole outcome?
Shane: I enjoyed it. You get removed from the game a little bit and you get a little more resolved and I was happy he won. When it was all said and done I think he was the most deserving of the two. At the time my mind was clouded because he had stabbed me in the back. So at the time I voted for Danielle because I was hurt and now that I'm away from the game a little bit I'm glad he won.
Courtney: I had some dark moments out there that were like, ughhhhh, it was hard to watch. But that's life. You climb a mountain, you're going to fall off. You get yourself up and you go to the top and you climb the next one. That's what I'm doing in my life and I'm completely inspired and thankful for the experience. If you hang on to anger and regret it just weighs you down. I'm the phoenix rising.
Cirie: You know, I love Danielle, I really do. But I love Aras as well and Aras, he's just a great human being. Aras is genuinely concerned about other people. And this is a game where you look out for number one, which is yourself. Aras wasn't like that. He helped me a lot when he didn't have to. He never wrote my name down. He helped keep me in the game longer. So I'm really happy for him. It couldn't have happened to a better person.
Terry: It played out really well for Aras. He had my vote going into the final there and not because I was mad at Danielle or anything. Aras was great around camp. He could catch fish, snails. He made fire. And socially he and Shane were instrumental in keeping that Casaya tribe together.
Amy: So how did your Navy training come into play here?
Terry: My Navy training helped me with survival. Not only that but just being twenty years older than a bunch of these competitors. I've got a wife, I've got two kids, mortgages. I've got cars, I've got a big airline job and I've got the F14 stuff in the background with Navy and just having all those experiences gave me so much more to draw from, I think. I needed that at my age to try to compete with these young guys and gals. They were awesome and you know what, I'd go do it again in a heartbeat.
DR: Cirie, first of all let's start off and ask...
JM: She's the...?...woman
DR: I guess the question for Cirie. Let's be honest, when Cirie started this game, she came to this game for only one reason...and that was to get within striking distance of Jeff Probst. The woman was obsessed. We spent our half hour interview...24 minutes talking about Probst. What's up with that?
Cirie: I love Jeff. I'm sorry Julie but I love Jeff. The dimples got me from the Richard Hatch show. I just...I don't know...and I love Survivor. I watched every show, I can't help but to see him and he's so cute.
JM: He is cute.
DR: It was true...it was amazing. You went in this game as a great personality...what else is she bringing out there? And then we saw you a few weeks ago kick it into gear with the strategy and everything. You were getting a little cutthroat.
JM: I think when we saw the recap that in the beginning we realized, 'oh my gosh' Cirie has really...
DR: Started with Tina.
JM: Did most of these big moves.
Cirie: Well...
JM: Give yourself credit.
DR: You little Minx.
JM: Little is right.
DR: Unbelievable.
Cirie: You know I don't know. I just did the best that I could. I watched the show, like I said, a lot. And I kinda took from that. And anybody that was standing in my way of a million dollars...if someone thought they wanted to keep them around...
DR: Get'em out. Get'em out. Get rid of 'em.
JM: We love that...that's what you're supposed to do.
JM: That's good enough.
DR: Well Jeff Probst is right over there, but he's with Julie. So you gotta be a little stealth probably when you get in there, alright?
JM: Distract...distract. Pull a little bit of stuff we saw at that one sack wrestling challenge....knock down.
DR: But I'll keep HB away....and you just go that way...we got it all worked out.
Cirie: I love Julie and I love Jeff. And I'm gonna let them be...for now.
JM: For now.
DR: Well enjoy the night, we'll see you at the after party....have a great time, enjoy.
Aras still tries to convince us that he played with integrity. Danielle doesn't regret her decision.
Renee got to interview Aras. She congratulated him & he thanked her. She said he can do better than that. He just won a million dollars. He said it is awesome & overwhelming & it hasn't sunk in yet. He has been freeloading off his dad. He is sure his dad is happy & has more space in the house now.
Renee said last night he beat Danielle at Tribal Council 5-2. Was he confident he would beat her? Aras said he knew he had a chance to beat her. Going into Tribal Council he had no idea how the vote would go cuz there was a lot of unknowns. How was Courtney & Shane going to vote? Sally & Austin were question marks in his head. It ended up going his way but it could have easily gone the other way.
Renee said he pushed Danielle so hard though. She said Terry when you look back on it was kind of like a little bit laid back & whatever you say. Aras said Terry was soft sell & he was hard sell & looking back on it, he feels a little bad that he pressed so hard but you're out there & you do what you gotta do & can apologize now or later.
Renee said he & Terry had this incredible rivalry through the entire game so here it is the young buck & the 40-ish fighter pilot. She said he is a yoga instructor & she was surprised to see that ire come out of him. She thought he would be centered & calm. He said he does teach yoga but doesn't try to pretend he's a yogi cuz he's not & he's learning & sometimes he gets competitive & sometimes he really wants to beat Terry & most of the time Terry beats him. You learn from it & that is the wonderful thing about `Survivor' that you learn a lot. A 46-year-old buck can still beat him pretty bad. Renee said Terry won every Individual Immunity Challenge. She asked where did that rivalry come from? Aras said they are both really competitive & wanted to win. Terry was in a tough spot cuz he didn't have the numbers & Aras did & then Aras was in a tough spot & kept getting beat & he didn't like that. Aras said it ended up being so cool cuz they really do have a great relationship now. Terry is an amazing guy & an amazing family man. Aras is honored to be in a rivalry with him.
Renee wanted to talk about the lily pad challenge last night cuz Danielle did kind of give him a nod like she would take him to Final 2 & then she waffled a little bit. Would he have done that if he had known she was going to vacillate. Aras said Danielle was going to beat him regardless. He was wobbling so he jumped. Had he knows he would have tried a little harder to stay on but she probably would have beaten him anyway.
Renee said Shane said some really nasty things last night. Aras said he took some shots. Renee said Shane was an equal opportunity offender. He talked about Aras freeloading. Why was he so angry? Aras said he got voted out & some people take it with a grain of salt & some handle it pretty immaturely & will let Renee decide which Shane did. Give me a friggin break. Is he trying to say if Danielle had cut him last night he would have been all sweet about it? I just loathe this guy. Aras said that Shane is a good guy too & everybody handles things their way & decompresses the way they need to & this is the way Shane decided to do it. I loved the way Shane handled it. Aras & Danielle both f*cked him & he has every right to be pissed.
Renee said she had to ask about the fall he took. It looked so painful. Was it cuz of the Mimosas he was drinking. He never wears shoes on the rocks & he was then. & he had a glass in his hand & doesn't know what he was thinking. He said they didn't get to drink much of the champagne & that was a bummer.
Renee said here he is 24-years-old & is about to get his check. She hands him a real check & not a big phony one. Aras will be back the next half hour to really get the check. I guess she just taunted him with it.
Julie joined Renee for the next segment with the Final 4. They are outside & it is cold & raining. Julie wanted to start with Terry cuz she said if she was a betting woman, she would have bet on him to win this. How surprised was he that Danielle didn't take him to the Final 2. Terry was hoarse & said it was a very difficult choice for Danielle he thinks she made the best choice for her depending who was on the jury. It was a tough choice all around to look at 2 people & who should they take to the finals to beat for a million dollars. Renee said to Danielle she gave Aras a hard time earlier but he even said he gave her a hard sell & told her she would lose Cirie & his vote if she didn't choose him so is that one of the reasons she chose him? Danielle said she just figured Aras & her had both burned some bridges & Terry didn't have to vote anyone off. She thought a lot of people gained respect for Terry at the end & thought she had a better shot against Aras. That is what her gut told her & she went with it & doesn't regret it. Renee said she didn't have a better shot though. Danielle said they were both so competitive & powerful she thinks she was destined to come in 2nd & she stuck with her Casaya tribe.
Julie said Danielle called Aras manipulative & he was really leaning on her. Aras said he was super manipulative & he apologizes to her. Danielle said look where it got him.
Renee said everyone was so wowed by Cirie's transformation. She told us she didn't like leaves or bugs or the heat. Even her husband said she didn't like to be too hot or too cold. She said her transformation was remarkable. Cirie agreed & said she expected some kind of learning experience out of this but had no idea how life changing it would be for her. It has totally changed her. She has a couch for sale if anyone wants it. It has been great & she won a car, thank you GMC. Um… Thank the fans honey. GMC is getting publicity. The fans gave you the car. & she did then thank America.
Julie said this is for all of them, everyone who plays the game says it is pretty much impossible to play with integrity & win. Did Aras play with integrity? Terry said he played within his moral bounds & made choices according to the situation posed to him & thinks he did a fine job. Danielle said he played a loyal game. He is manipulative as all heck. Cirie loved him & thinks he is great & he played the game with a whole lot of integrity. He made some moves he absolutely had to but he deserves the money & she is happy for him. Aras said when he got home he was really proud of himself for playing the way he did. It is really difficult to play the game & not tell a lie. He told a couple. Ya think? Get off your high horse buddy. You did not play with integrity. Why do they say that? He played the game. Integrity was never in his game plan. Don't be ashamed of it. Own it. You lied & backstabbed & it got you the money. Nothing wrong with that. Don't try to sell us this integrity sh*t. He lied more to his Mom since coming back saying he didn't get to the Final 2. It is all a lesson, when you make a mistake you learn from it & get to watch it on tape.
Renee asked what is he going to do with his money. He is handed his check. He jokes where does he go with this. He has this company he started & will invest in that. He is wearing a really ugly hat & he said that is the company, he said a website name but I can't figure out what he said. He said the hats are really warm & said he is the only one not shivering out there. Renee asked about yoga & he said that is his passion is & he is still going to do that. Julie asked for his million dollar yoga post. He said he is honored & smiling.

Commentary by AP N Tenn April 28, 2006 This week on Survivor Panama: Exile Island Terry won his fourth straight immunity challenge. Those previews sure had me fooled; it appeared he lost the competition. Anyway with Terry's win, we know that one of the former Casaya members will finally get the boot. A clink in their strong alliance was coming, and coming soon!
Who was destined to get their flame snuffed out? Shane perhaps, who has clearly gone bonkers, using a rock as a Blackberry, the on-island shrink should have come and scooped him off to a padded room.
Perhaps Aras, the admittedly strongest Casaya member remaining, the one that is a force to beat Terry will be the next to go.
Courtney maybe, simply because she is so annoying to the rest of the tribemates, and has been since almost day one, will possibly be eliminated from the chance at a million dollars.
I notice that nobody thought to mention Cirie or Danielle getting kicked off the island.
Terry figured he had swayed both Danielle and Courtney into coming to his team, but Danielle had other ideas, like wanting to have it all rather than being number three in their little alliance, so she explored her other options. Enter Cirie who had a plan to get rid of Courtney, because she knew everyone wanted to be sitting next to Courtney at the final tribal council.
Cirie cornered Aras, and let him know that she was backing him, which was welcome news to Aras, since really he would not have had a leg to stand on without Cirie's support. So together with Danielle, Cirie convinced them all to toss the final vote in Courtney's favor sending her packing and no longer in the running for the million bucks. But now she is an angry jury member.
This is not the first time Cirie has maneuvered the votes. Way back at the first vote when the 'older women' lost the first challenge, instead of booting Cirie, who was at first glance, a couch potato, and potentially not the strongest survivor on the island. Instead of getting the first boot right away, Cirie convinced the other women that the Lumberjack should go, why? Because she was spending so much time alone, never mind that she was fishing and bringing cheer to the team, Cirie organized her booting.
When the tribes joined together initially with Cirie and Melinda from the 'older tribes', Again at first glance, it looked like Cirie would be a goner, but nope they booted Melinda, then in a really weird twist Bobby, big strong, athletic, good-at-winning-challenges, Bobby was booted, and yet Cirie remained. It was at this point, that you realized Cirie was a forced to be reckoned with.
Now it is impossible to ignore her powers. Will she win the millions dollars, I don't think so. But since engineering Courtney's boot, Cirie is the new number two person to take to the finals, after all at first glance, you would think she has ridden the coattails to be here, should she win it all? The resounding answer from the jury members that she has backstabbed would be no. But $100,000 is not bad, and she has outwitted Courtney, Lumberjack Lady, and outlasted many others, but did she outplay the others? Time will tell.
A good idea for a future survivor would be to bring back all the people that were booted off first. I think that would yield an interesting season.
Spoiler Warning: The rest of this article is a spoiler…
On the previews for Survivor Panama Exile Island, we have seen previews of someone being carted off by boat. We have since seen two medical emergencies - Bruce, and Shane. I had been guessing that it was Bruce who was taken away for a day, and that they simply edited out the evacuation.
You'll recall that there was discussion at the time, about Bruce only being gone for a day. One commentator said the editing is up to the producers, but the promos are up to the individual networks. Could it be that the three-week-break promos were covering the rest of the season, not just the upcoming episode? It would appear so!
The spoiler is below!
The medical emergency was not Shane. Nor was it Bruce.
According to an Internet source, it is Courtney Marit who gets seriously injured and is removed from the game by medical evacuation. She becomes the second person in the history of the series to be removed due to serious injury.

Bodog.com (See Web Site Here) announced today that it has suspended
all wagering activity on its popular "Survivor Panama" wagering
proposition, after bookmakers noticed suspicious betting patterns on
one of the show's eight remaining contestants.
Bodog.com bookmakers made the decision to take down the Survivor odds
after receiving a number of maximum wagers from the same area on
Danielle DiLorenzo, a 24-year-old contestant who lives in Florida.
Further to this, the Bodog.com Customer Service Center received a
phone call from a concerned citizen who suggested that a close
associate of DiLorenzo has been leaking the information to friends.
"Our entertainment bookmakers were quick to react and investigate
this incident, and although we can't at all substantiate the claim of
the person who called, the lines have been taken down as a
precaution," says Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com. "Our
entertainment bets are designed to enhance the wagering and viewing
experience for our customers, and it is our duty to ensure that the
integrity of the lines are kept intact at all times."
Ayre is said to have been stunned by this revelation. He is currently
in Los Angeles conducting a photo shoot for the "Rat Pack Poker Pros".
Only recently, Bodog.com announced that it had created a separate
committee to monitor the betting action on reality television
proposition bets. During one of the past Survivor editions, Bodog.com
book managers noticed a few suspicious bets being placed on its
Survivor odds. It was later revealed that a few insiders at CBS were
betting heavy on one of the contestants, as they had knowledge of the
winner prior to the public announcement. The maximum bet at Bodog.com
on most entertainment bets, including Survivor wagers, is $100.
The digital entertainment and gaming company is now considered among
the Internet's largest source for television proposition bets. The
Bodog book managers use certain criteria when coming up with the
contestants' rankings. The criteria include: historical evidence,
such as the character make-up of past winners and losers;
demographics, such as gender, age and physical attributes; and
sentimental and popular culture value, which is an assessment of how
the general public feels about each contestant.

Wed. March 15 The first fifteen days on the island are revisited with 13 brand new scenes, on a special episode of SURVIVOR: PANAMA -- EXILE ISLAND, Wednesday, March 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS, Additionally, clips of upcoming episodes will also be revealed, along with a preview of a brand new episode to air when SURVIVOR: PANAMA -- EXILE ISLAND returns to its regularly scheduled time period on Thursday, March 30 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Thanks mostly to the entertainingly destructive Shane, the Casaya tribe remains as wacky as ever. Meanwhile, the brooding he-men of La Mina got spanked again in a combined reward/immunity challenge and had to jettison astronaut Dan.
"Survivor" may never have had such a contrast in teams: the members of Casaya, which still includes South Carolina's Cirie Fields, seem to do everything by the seat of their pants, while LaMina strategizes like worker ants.
Except for Cirie, the Casaya members seem to have bees in their buffs. Bruce builds a rock garden and practices karate moves. Shane insults Danielle and Courtney and longs for — and finally gets — a cigarette. Courtney does yoga on Bruce's precious garden. Danielle tends toward sullen and lazy and dazed-and-confused. Aras doesn't know whom to befriend. Cirie just has to stick to a low profile and hope Shane resumes antagonizing Danielle and Courtney.
Sample dialogue:
Shane:" "I don't like Danielle. She's a meatball."
Danielle: "Shane is a lunatic."
Courtney: "He's a freak."
The four men of LaMina would have voted off Sally after they lost the challenge, but she was moved out of the line of fire when the winning Casaya got to pick one of losing LaMina's tribe members to go to Exile Island — they chose Sally.
Next week: No one seems safe on Casaya, including Cirie, and if LaMina loses, the fellas will go after Sally. If there's a merger, the gals could unify, but the guys still outnumber them.

Survivor Panama Insider Episode 5
I transcribed the Casaya Votes Bobby Out first. I wanted to go ahead and put this rough version here because I couldn't understand some of what Bobby said and I wondered if any of you did. FINAL WORDS isn't working for me, aside from the first few seconds where Bobby says Aras is a stand-up guy who looked out for him, and then calls Danielle, Courtney, and Shane "the three girls". I'm transcribing the clips that would play all the way through for me. Apologies for those that didn't:
- Bobby's Final Words - Bobby the Day After - Magic Fingers [Courtney gives Cirie a massage and Cirie lies that it felt good] - What a Crock [Cirie complains about Bruce and Bobby drinking the wine and BSing about no room in the shelter]
Half of What a Crock worked for me, but the rest didn't. I don't know if it's just my computer or something wrong w/the CBS site.
CASAYA VOTES BOBBY OUT
CIRIE: ("Bobbie") Strictly strategic. Sorry. We can be friends after.
BRUCE: This is not to vote you out, Courtney, but this vote here is to help keep in check and make a playing even field for all the other ladies. You seem to challenge everything you ask me all the time - it's irritating. But I've grown to like you more, but this is probably not - you're not going to be voted out tonight, but this is just a reminder. I hope you have more respect for me, because I'm enjoying to like you more.
BOBBY: Bruce, you know we get down, dawg. I'd drink that wine with you every time. Forget them. I couldn't tell them the real reason why I drank it was cause I have no respect for any of them. I drank it cause I didn't want them to (?) and of course they didn't. They (?) When we get back to LA, steak, seafood, whiskey and a ballgame on Bob Dawg. You know this didn't come from me. You know who did this. Bob.
SHANE: (ARAS) This is a throwaway vote because I'm not allowed to vote...(laughs) It's confusing, but it doesn't mean anything. I'm trying to make my vote go away.
COURTNEY: (BOBBY) Hey, I think you're a great brother, and I wish you the best, but this is purely strategic to protect myself.
ARAS: Bruce, I just didn't think I could trust you.
DANIELLE: Bobby, you let yourself...you're just too egotistical, and you're selfish. You just need to learn how to communicate better with people, and open up.

TRICKY TERRY Terry has found the hidden Immunity Idol, but none of his tribemates know that, and he's not planning to tell. Find out where he's hiding the little fella.
TERRY (solo, sitting on the rocks at the beach):
"While I was on Exile Island, I found the immunity idol. I have it now in my possession. It's flattened out and tucked away in my blue cargo pants, the ones I sleep in, so hopefully no one's touching me in my sleep. They don't know I have it. I gave them all the clues that were over there, and told them I couldn't figure out the first clue, which was Jeff's narrative, which ends, 'I've already given you the first clue.'
(cut)
And anyways, I've told them all the clues, and I'm keeping the idol hidden. It's my little ace in the hole. I do not believe I will need it here. I will use it - I will have to use it most likely after the merge, and again my optimistic goal is to not have to use it at all.
(cut)
I'll keep the immunity idol tucked away right here (pats leg) in my blue cargo pants pocket. Nobody's gonna be searching through my stuff. Nobody does that around here. If they do, there's gonna be a big heap of trouble. You want half a can of whoop-ass, or the whole thing? (laughs) Don't touch my stuff. So I don't think that's going to be a problem.
(cut)
Nobody has directly asked me, 'Did you find the immunity idol', so I have not had to lie about it. If I am asked that question, I will give them the old standard that I can neither confirm nor deny that I have the idol, but I told you all the clues that I know, and that's where it's gonna stand. If you wanna guess I have it, fine; if you don't wanna guess I have it, that's fine too."
--
FANTABULOUS
Bob Dog, the better for a bit of wine, sounds off about how cool his tribe is. What Bobby doesn't know is that they'll vote him off at the very next Tribal Council.
BOBBY (solo): After we won the reward challenge, as soon as we touched down on the island back at camp, someone decided to break out a bottle of wine. I was hitting my poses in the middle of celebration, and I said, "Yeah, West Wise Casaya Gangsta Tribe, woo woo", cause I'm from LA and we have a tendency to do that. Assign fantabulous names to things that aren't fantabulous. I think Courtney dug the way it sounded, so I might officially dub our team the Westside Casaya Gangsta Tribe.
(nightvision of Casaya laughing, drinking wine, Courtney mimics Bobby's arm poses)
BOBBY (to tribe): Eastside, westside, nationwide, we're riding-ass, Casaya Gangsta Tribe. On 3, we'll give a big, 'woo woo.' 1, 2, 3...

The Jersey Journal
Monday, February 27, 2006
Watch out, Jersey City. If you see a woman heading your way showing
off a flier that displays her daughter's photo, that's just Tina
Fields.
She's harmless but off-the-hook crazy about Cirie, one of her six
grown children.
"I'm a one-woman army telling everybody in Jersey City about my
girl," Tina Fields brags, noting that she has urged all
nationalities, from the Puerto Ricans to Italians, to tune in and
watch her African-American daughter on television.
On CBS' "Survivor: Panama," Cirie Fields, a 35-year-old Jersey City
native who now resides in South Carolina, stands out for her
strength and steely resolve.
Her mother says Cirie has always been a tough customer.
"She was strong willed as a child," Tina Fields says. "She was
strong minded about what she wanted to do and didn't want to do. But
she was always willing to listen to what you had to say, whether it
came from me or her brothers and sisters. She was always willing to
learn."
Nonetheless, Tina Fields says it still shocks her that Cirie wanted
to be a "Survivor."
"It seems like such a hard show to do," she says. "I've watched it
for years and know that I couldn't do it. I think she's doing really
well so far."
Because of her contract with the show, Cirie Fields wasn't able to
comment for this story but her mother says she has shared some
reflections about her time on the series, which was taped.
"She's real close mouthed about it so we honor that and understand,"
Tina Fields says. "But she did say that she thinks the world of Jeff
Probst (the show's host) and that people on the show were very nice."
Gina Gates, one of Cirie Fields' closest friends, says the main
engine driving Cirie's decision to try out for "Survivor" was a
desire to help out her family.
"Although her family isn't stressed over money, she is determined to
help out financially," says Gates, who still resides in Jersey
City. "If she wins the money, she just wants to give everybody
something to be happy."
Tina Fields says she truly appreciates Cirie's efforts.
"I'm happy that she thinks that much of her family but that's a big
burden for someone to put yourself through this," she says. "Win,
lose or draw, I'll never forget that she did this."
Cirie, who works as a registered nurse at a hospital in Waltersboro,
S.C., attended School 24 on Virginia Avenue as a youngster. Then she
moved on to graduate from Lincoln High School.
She worked for a while as a home health aide in Jersey City before
moving to Ohio to attend a surgical technical school. The next step
for the mother of three sons was to finish nursing school at St.
Francis, a medical institution in Pennsylvania.
"After Cirie had kids, she said she wanted to do better with her
life," says Tina Fields, who works as a home health aide for the
Visiting Homemakers Service of Hudson County. "We told her whatever
she wanted to do, she could do it. And she's done it and gone on to
be a nurse."
One of Cirie's three sons, John, still lives in Jersey City with his
father. He's a sophomore at Hudson Catholic High School here. Her
other sons, Jarrett & Jamil, live with Cirie and her husband in
South Carolina.
Cirie paid a recent visit to Jersey City but her longtime friend,
Gina Gates, says they didn't do "all the crazy stuff" they used to
do back in the day.
"Since we're both married mothers now, that's all null and void,"
she says. "But we always have big fun together anyway."
As for "Survivor," Gates believes her buddy can prevail over the
others.
"I feel like it's her time," she says. "When she told me she was
going to do it, I felt a positive charge about it."
And, of course, Cirie's No. 1 fan stands behind her all the way.
"I feel that Cirie has it in her to win," her mother says. "Whether
she will, I don't know. Whatever the case, she's a winner with us.
Ever since she was a little girl, people have always told me that
Cirie has such a beautiful smile and charisma. They would tell me
that all my girls were beautiful but 'there's something special
about that Cirie."'
