Hello. I have recently revamped the Aussie Soap Archive page on "The
Unisexers" - the shortest-lived serial on the site.

Here is the URL: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/unisex.html

Must admit there isn't too much to write on this program. Just 16
episodes screened in early 1975, and copies of episodes seem
impossible to access - if they still exist at all. A black and white
clip (despite the program itself being produced in colour) surfaced on
youtube some months ago but has since been removed.

Great article on The Unisexers, and indeed in all the articles on your
website, I certainly admire the research and attention to detail in them...

Always a good read :-)

Thanks Andrew.

It was a bit difficult to find much on The Unisexers since it came and went
so quickly!

I couldn't leave well enough alone and added even more to The
<http://www.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/unisex.html> Unisexers page.

Have also added a bit more on the nudity aspect of Number
<http://members.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/number96.html> 96 - it is included
at the end of that page's 'Sex
<http://members.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/number96.html#_Toc201812017> and
the Scripting' section. Mentioned in those additions is actor Mirren Lee,
who discusses her Number 96 connection even further for the Neighbours:

A new addition to the Aussie Soap Archive is an essay about Prisoner and
fan cultures, and how the series has entered into spaces and contexts
outside its conventional boundaries. I originally wrote it in April
2004. This is the first time it had appeared in any public forum.

The essay is here: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/prisessay.html
<http://www.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/prisessay.html>

I have also made several changes to the Prisoner long-term overview,
adding a lot of behind the scenes information from the program's
early years. Find out why Kerry Armstrong left the show, and read about
the drama surrounding George Mallaby's two abrupt departures from
the production. Here: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/prismore.html

Welcome to the list. Unfortunately I know of no episodes of Class of '74
publicly available. Umbrella Entertainment have released episodes of Number
96, The Young Doctors, Sons and Daughters, but I know of no Class of '74
releases.

Seeking to trade recordings.

I have been recording the WIN TV wee small hours transmissions of these
Carwford dramas for the past few years and occasionally miss episodes.

I'm keen to get in contact with other people who have also been
recording these programs with a view to filling these gaps and in
return filling any gaps you might have.

Many of Maguire's credits are listed here:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0532374/

He made many appearances in the Crawford's 1970s police prodecurals. His
comments about these roles are recorded on a Prisoner page from my website
website:
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~fangora/prismore.html#_Toc215528861...

"Gerard Maguire credited his acne-scarred skin for his repeated casting as
heavy types such as the resident baddie, bikie or rapist. "In one year, I
did 13 episodes Homicide, Division Four, Matlock Police, and Bluey, playing
one of these characters," he told TV Week. While the script explained that
Jim Fletcher had served in Vietnam, Maguire reported that it was his acne
that prevented him from serving. "They wouldn't sign me up because of my
skin. Tropical ulcers can cause all sorts of problems.""

I also remember him in an early episode of Neighbours as a bank robber who
held Daphne hostage.

   Martin

Hi, I am new to this group.
I am a big fan of Andrew McFarlane and host a fansite about him.
Deb told me, that they are rerunning Division 4 right now.
Andrew is not in it yet, but should be sometimes soon.
I have never seen this show before as they don't show it here in
Germany. :-(
Would anybody be willing to record some epsiodes on DVD for me and send
them to me? Of course I will pay you for that.

Please contact me via e-mail. Your help will be highly appreciated!

Thanks. "Call Me Abigail" reportedly attracts super high prices these days.
I'd love to own it too but the few times I've checked eBay for it - it
wasn't listed.

Last year newspaper article "Unlocking the door to Number 96" reported that
Abigail "was last heard of living on a banana plantation on the Far North
Coast"
mber-96/2008/08/29/1219516741498.html] though I do not think that's the
*last* we heard of her, as the banana plantation in Tully was something she
owned in 1982, and she did several big soap roles *after* that. (Unless
she's disappeared back up there again...) As for fellow 96 sex symbol
Josephine Knur, well she does seem to have disappeared into anonymity.

Robert

I don't know if Warwick Thompson will be in the episodes on this DVD release - I
haven't examined the episode synopses on the blog as I don't want to spoil
things. I know he is definitely around by episode 839 from later in 1975 - the
bomb storyline.

I do know that Maggie Cameron will be in some of the episodes in this DVD
release. She wasn't in any episodes of the Pantyhose Murderer storyline.

It will be great to see where the storyline goes in this release. I would also
like to see episodes from prior to the Pantyhose Murderer - these include Flo's
wedding and Dorrie's nightmares.

Robert.
