Kuh Ledesma Pays Tribute to
George Canseco
This year, Kuh Ledesma mounts a special concert dubbed "Paano Kita
Mapasasalamatan" as a tribute to the late great composer George
Canseco. Kuh who celebrates her 25th year anniversary in
entertainment this year believes that it is but fitting for her to
pay homage to the composer responsible for her first hit "DITO BA."
"I am forever grateful to George Canseco for writing the song "Dito
Ba" specifically for me. It was his way of describing what he
believed I was going through at that time." The song propelled Kuh
to superstardom.
"Dito Ba" was also used as the theme song for Vilma Santos' award
winning movie, Ms X. It essayed the hardships of a woman working
abroad.
George Canseco wrote eight of ten songs in Kuh's first album. Among
them are enduring classics such as Bulaklak, Wakas, and Paano Kita
Mapasasalamatan. Kuh Ledesma also recorded another Canseco
masterpiece "Ako ay Pilipino" in 1982.
Canseco has written over 300 songs in his lifetime, These songs were
recorded and sung by other stellar artists in the Philippines such
as Basil Valdes, Sharon Cuneta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Dulce, Leah
Navarro, Imelda Papin, and Regine Velasquez among others.
"Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan," the tribute concert will be held on
Canseco's first year death anniversary, November 19, 2005, at the
PICC. The concert which features a 30-piece orhcestra also one of
George Canseco's favorite singers BASIL VALDEZ and current hit maker
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA.
