Dana Sparks makes her long-anticipated return as Grace Bennett on
Thursday, November 2. A lot has happened since Grace left Harmony,
and her reaction to Ivy, Eve and Kay's deception is sure to be Must
See TV. Read on to catch up with Dana and her Tomato-Soup-Cake-Queen
alter ego.

What have you been up to since fans last saw you on the show?
I've been building one house and remodeling another. Two cool
projects that took more time and more money than they were supposed
to! (Laughs) I did an episode of "The Lyon's Den" (a primetime NBC
drama that starred Rob Lowe) and I was supposed to be recurring, but
it got canceled. So that was frustrating. I also did some traveling.
Last June, I went to Italy, just like Grace. I loved the country. My
husband and I stayed at our friend's villa just outside of Florence
for a few days. It was our 24th wedding anniversary. I can't imagine
what we're gonna do next year! (Laughs)

Have you kept tabs on what's been happening on the show?
Off and on. I'm confused about who some of the new people are. Every
time I hear the name "Fancy" I laugh. (Laughs) But I used to play a
character named Fanny, so that's funny, too. I take hikes with
Tracey (Ross; Eve), and I say, "Okay, what's going on with the
show?" (Jokes) I say, "Are you talking about me? I don't care about
anyone else's story, I just want to know if they're talking about
Grace!" (Laughs)

So you still keep in touch with some of your co-stars.
Yes, Tracey and Kim (Johnston Ulrich; Ivy) are my best buds from the
show. We try to keep in touch. Tracey lives in my neighborhood. Eva
(Tamargo; Pilar) and I keep threatening each other, but we have yet
to meet up! So I get updates. I watched the Bollywood fantasy. It
was beautiful.

What was your first day back like?
I was nervous. I thought, "How am I going to remember my lines?" I
had three big shows in a row, very emotional stuff. But it was all
the same crew, all the same people. It was like I hadn't left. It
was great.

So what's Grace been up to?
Well, none of the candles had been lit in Grace's flat, so it
couldn't have been too romantic with David. (Laughs) I know she went
to Italy. I imagine she's been studying Italian, riding a vespa,
wearing big sunglasses and saying, "Ciao!" (Laughs) I think maybe
David was just a cover for her. She wanted a long vacation. Once
hell opened in the closet, it was time to get out of town.

Are you excited to finally play out the Ivy/David story?
I am VERY happy about the reveal. I had hoped that it was going to
come out and that I would get to play it. It was left on such an
unresolved note. I never got to confront anybody. So it's nice to
have Grace come back stronger and wiser and more worldly. It's fun
to play.

  What is Grace's first thought when she hears what Ivy's done?
I was really happy that her first reaction was so angry, just over
the top angry. I was a little nervous because I thought they're
never going to be able to redeem Grace. I mean, she was swearing!
(Laughs) She's damning people, calling her daughter a "cancer!" She
softens up a bit, but she's still angry. I want to drive through the
church in a car!

Will Grace ever be able to forgive Kay?
That's tough. It's harder when someone THAT close to you is THAT
terrible to you. It's a much more difficult thing to forgive.

Grace still hasn't found out about Eve's part in this... what do you
think her reaction will be? I would think she'd feel sadder when it
comes to Eve. Because you almost expect your child to lash out at
you. But your friend...? And to not say anything, especially after
her own stuff came out. Once Eve's secret came out, why wouldn't she
say, "Hey, Grace, leave David! Come home! I have something to tell
you!"?

Should Ivy fear for her life?
Boy, wouldn't that be something? (Laughs) Just for Kim's benefit, I
hope not! We want to keep Ivy alive. She's too good a character. I
think Ivy should just worry a little bit. Maybe I'll scar her! Throw
a hot tomato soup cake on her face!

Where does Grace go from here?
She's done with David. I think she just immediately wants to get
back to Sam. She only chose David because of her religion, because
she thought she was married to him. So it wasn't her heart's choice.

So she never really stopped loving Sam.
No, she couldn't have possibly. How can you get over him? Look at
him! (Laughs)

Kristina Sisco joins Passions as the new Charity Standish November
14. She comes to town to cause trouble for one of Harmony's couples,
Kay and Miguel.


Sisco (ex-Abigail, As the World Turns) recently got engaged to her
boyfriend of two years - Dan - on October 8th in New York's Central
Park.

This has been a very busy year for Sisco. She received a bachelor's
degree in psychology from New Jersey's Thomas Editon State College
(she took online classes from L.A.) also on Oct. 8. Sisco graduated
with honors and has begun working on her Masters in Professional
Writing at USC. Earlier this year, she completed filming the movie
The Flock in which she co-stars with Richard Gere and Claire Dane.
The movie will be released next year.


There is no official word on when the nuptials will take place, but
many in the know believe that the two will become husband and wife
some time in 2007. Sisco is said to be "ecstatic" by the news and
was really surprised!

Scissor Sisters get zapped to HarmonyTVGuide.com is reporting that
Scissor Sisters will appear on Passions early next year.


"They're big fans of the show — they called us!"NBC Daytime VP
Annamarie Kostura happily tells TVGuide.com. "We got a call from
their record label, Universal Motown, saying that the Scissor
Sisters are huge fans of Passions, they're touring with their new
album and they'd like to be on our show. I spoke to Passions' head
writer, Jim Reilly, and he said 'Sure!' So Passions' musical
director, Paul Antonelli, and I went to the first concert of their
new tour and we met with the band. They were just hysterical over
how much they love this show."



Ms. Kostura says Scissor Sisters — that's Jake Shears, Babydaddy,
Ana Matronic, Paddy Boom and Del Marquis — have agreed to tape two
episodes in December. They will air during the first week of
February.


In their first episode, Endora, Nicole Cox, zaps the band into
Tabitha's kitchen for a command performance of their hit song "I
Don't Feel Like Dancin."


Their second episode Scissor Sisters performs "Land of a Thousand
Words" at The Blue Note. Both songs are off their just-released
album, Ta-Dah.

Michael Sabatino has certainly shown a different, more lighthearted
side of himself while playing oh-so-entertaining scheming tabloid
reporter J.T. Cornell on PASSIONS. He also has fans running to their
computers to hear what silly songs he's singing on
nbc.com's "Tabloid Truth." Here, he tells how he comes up with his
slick dance moves, why gold is dangerous and exactly what he thinks
about those tell-all rags.

Soap Opera Digest: You sure are the star of "Tabloid Truth."
Michael Sabatino: J.T. is the one with all the goods on all these
people! The show had a lot of fun calling me every week to ask if I
sing or dance. I would always say no, of course. It went on and on.
[Casting Director] Jackie Briskey would say, "Do you do ballet?
Water-ski? Scuba dive?" So I had no idea what they would have me
doing.

Digest: You have a couple of singing and dancing skits. How long did
it take you to learn those?
Sabatino: The first one, they had a pianist to accompany me when I
sang it. The song was so fast. There is so much language that comes
out so quickly. The pianist gave me the music to listen to on a tape
and it probably took about six or seven days to set it in my head.
So I had it for a week in my car trying to remember the words. Then
we put it to the music.

Digest: How many takes did you need?
Sabatino: We got it in one, thank God. I started to get tense
because I don't sing and I don't dance.

Digest: Did a choreographer help you?
Sabatino: No. I just made stuff up and they were cool with that. We
tried to incorporate the waiter into it. It went by so quickly, we
couldn't get stuff with him. It was really fun, it really was.

Digest: How about the second song that he sings on the wharf?
Sabatino: That one, I was totally on my own. When I came out there,
they were like, "Okay, let's see it." There was no choreographer. So
I was just like, "Where's the camera? I'll just do something." Then
the money and gold started floating down and they said, "Don't look
up because the gold is actually little aluminum flakes and if you
get it in your eyes, it's not going to be good." My mind was reeling
and rolling there. I was thinking, "What do I do? Do I kick, step,
kick?" That one, we also got in one take, but I know I messed up
some lines somewhere because it was fast and furious. I never
expected to be doing that.

Digest: How long does it take to get the song out of your head?
Sabatino: It was the first thing I'd hear in my head when I woke up
and it kept playing all day long. It took a little while [to go
away]. I don't want to remember it right now so that it happens
again.

Digest: Which is your favorite "Tabloid Truth" chapter?
Sabatino: The first song that I had to do. It was silly and it sent
a message and it was goofy, like J.T.

Digest: How do you feel about tabloids in real life?
Sabatino: Ha! It depends. I guess if you're the target of them, it's
not so fun, is it? I used to enjoy it when they had a lot more of
the World Reports. It was fun to stand in the check-out line and
look at that stuff. My favorite was a huge bee and the headline
read: "Farmer Kills Giant Bee!" And there was a picture of a farmer
with a shotgun and he's got his leg up on the nose of the bee. The
subhead said, "Experts say stinger could stun elephant." Sometimes
they are really fun.

PASSIONS's Ben Masters (Julian) is not only entertaining on the
tube, he makes us laugh over the phone. Digest had so much to
discuss with him, but only so much room his 12/5 feature, "Big Ben,"
so we decided to share the rest of the interview here.


Soap Opera Digest: Julian and Eve have gone from lovers to fighters.
Ben Masters: Just after shooting the heavy scenes between Tracey and
myself, these four "Evian" fans came to the set. They had purchased
this lunch at the fan club luncheon last year. They flew in from
Ohio and Alabama, and we had lunch with them at the commissary. We
had just gotten off of me calling Tracey "a dirty whore" during a
scene and saying that she does her best work on her hands and knees.
Tracey and I shared a little bit of what we could without letting
the cat out of the bag with the fans. They were like, "What? Oh,
no!" All they had seen so far was us having a little spat here and
there. But I said, "You better get ready because it's going to get
real ugly."

Digest: It was pretty ugly when Eve caught Julian boinking Valerie
in his office.
Masters: My point of view is, of course, a male point of view, but
if you look back at all of the things ... look at the Valerie thing
just for fun ... It's almost understandable the way this man reacted
because how many times over the last two or three years has he bent
over backwards, offered the other cheek, did all he could to help
TC, did all this stuff for her daughters, tried to take her to
Paris, asked her to marry him? In real life, if a man and a woman
had that relationship, I could almost understand why the guy finally
goes, "You know, the hell with it? That's it! I can't do this
anymore." She is a confounding woman who knows what her situation
is. If you remember back, she's a woman who carries Rohypnol, the
date rape drug, around in her doctor bag. Theresa could get ahold of
it. Come on! None of us are perfect.

Digest: How did you feel about Fancy and Luis's porn scene? After
all, she is Julian's daughter.
Masters: I've done some really embarrassing things. I'm
unembarassable.

Eve (Tracey Ross) caught Julian and Valerie (Daphnee Duplaix Samuel)
in his office.

Digest: Do you ad-lib?

Masters: No, I don't ad-lib. I do change things sometimes. For
instance, Julian was talking to Fox and I was supposed to say, "I
will not have my son lose in a competition with an ignorant
fisherman," meaning Miguel. So I changed it to "ignorant fishmonger"
because it's just a weird word. But I follow things pretty closely.
That's why they wrote them.

Digest: Julian has uttered some pretty nasty words, like the
previously mentioned "whore." Have you toned any of them down?

Masters: I try not to. It's not something for me glaringly ugly
racist. I used to say a lot of stuff about the Lopez-Fitzgeralds,
like, "the Latino lover boy." But there is not a whole lot that
offends me.

Digest: Who is in your social circle?

Masters: I really don't have a social circle. The people at PASSIONS
really don't hang out together. I play golf once in awhile with
James Hyde . But when I'm at my house in the desert, I've got some
nice neighbors and we sometimes go play golf or go to a casino and
do a little gambling, but I'm not a big social person.

Digest: Do your neighbors know what you do for a living?

Masters: Yeah, but they can't quite put it together. They say, "Oh,
we TiVo'd your show and saw you. Is that really you? I don't
understand. You don't act anything like you do in real life." It's
strange, but they are nice people.

Digest: Since you and Tracey are together in real life, have you
taught her son, Bryce, how to sail?

Masters: He's been on my boat before, but you can't get
teenagers ... they're just thinking about girls. If I had a girl on
the boat that wasn't his mother... He works and goes to school and
practices with his band. It's like, "Come on, it will only take you
an hour to get there and then we'll go out for four hours and I hope
you don't get seasick." He's too busy for that.

Digest: You and Bryce have something in common — you have both
broken your neck.

Masters: I went to the Caribbean with Tracey two Christmases ago and
Bryce broke his neck jumping into the ocean, but he's all right.
That was something — to learn about the workings of the Bahamian
hospital system, which was a very good system. But I was hoping that
he didn't have to have what I had, the halo traction with bolts in
your skull. He convinced the doctor he would be a good boy and
wouldn't be lurching around every time a girl in a miniskirt would
walk by.

Digest: Hmm. Maybe Julian should be in one of those!

Liza Huber Passions Gwen will take her maternity leave December 18.
Her first child is due late that month. Her exit is temporary and she
will not have a replacement. Her last air date is not known yet. As
soon as we know, we will post it here.



Marianne Muellerleile, Passions Norma Bates, and Kathleen Noone,
Passions Edna Wallace, returns December 21st for an indefinite time.

Fancy is trapped in a terrifying situation!

"I'm on the 405, in typical traffic of L.A., so pardon me if I have
a slur as I'm cutting over," quips Emily Harper (Fancy) via cell
phone, as she takes a 30-mile trip home from PASSIONS. "On a good
day, that can mean 30 minutes in the car. On a bad day, it can be
about 2 hours."

Harper counts on her music to keep her sane, but she also has
another defense against the boredom and road rage associated with a
long L.A. commute. "I shouldn't say this, but sometimes I study my
lines," she admits. "If I'm going less than 10 m.p.h., I can do the
studying. If I'm over that, I can't do it."

After a year and a half, however, Harper's had enough of making it
work. "I'm going to adjust this situation by moving out toward
Studio City (where PASSIONS tapes)," she reveals. "Right now, I'm in
between Manhattan Beach and LAX, so we have airplanes taking off on
one side and beach on the other. It's quite nice being that close to
the ocean, but the commute is too much. Moving will make things
easier. It's just a matter of finding a place."

That means North Hollywood, Studio City and Los Feliz locals should
keep their eyes peeled for a Fancy new neighbor!
