de-le.html
Hey I've officially been on vacation this week but when blogging gets in your
blood, it's a tough addiction to shake. I'm a little late in noticing this but
better late than never. Tim MacMahon on Tuesday caught ESPN trumping up a "we're
bored its summer" debate on the validity of the Cowboys right to call themselves
America's Team. ESPN throws out the Packers, Steelers and Patriots as rightful
contenders for a moniker NFL Films bestowed on the Cowboys.
So maybe we can trump up a mid-summer debate of our own. What's the validity of
ESPN calling itself "the world wide leader in sports"? After all, its a title
ESPN bestowed on itself.
Any day now ESPN will offer up a "Worldwide Leader" category at the ESPYs. And
the nominees are: Barack Obama; Manchester United; Warren Buffett; and ESPN. And
the winner is: ESPN. Highlights can lead SportsCenter and Mike & Mike can do an
hour on it the next morning.
Perhaps NBC, the network of the Olympics, should be referred to as the "WWLS."
Or maybe it should be FIFA, which overseas soccer's comings and goings. How
about the Internet itself? Anyone have any other suggestions?

Careful Barry, daring to critique the almighty ESPN is a sure way to make
yourself an honest newspaperman.

to go.Now say Dallas was stupid to let him go. There all "SHEEP"

I have hated ESPN for a long time - but last season it reached a boiling point.
Here is a great example of how hypocritical they are in their coverage:

ESPN ruins everything in sports! I've found that you can get all the sports news
you need either from local media or from the league owned television networks
(i.e. NFL Network, MLB Channel, NBA TV, etc.).
If you live on the East Coast, ESPN is probably a great channel for you.

You mean, the north(E)ast (S)ox and (P)atriots
(N)etwork is aclling itself the wwls ?
Here ya go, "America's Team" IS NOT a transient moniker. You can tell it's
chapping their collective aces that we are America's Team, and they are soooo
jealous. Ask them where they turn when they need ratings, The Packers, The
Steelers or The Cheatriotys ? No, it's America's Team, THE Dallas Cowboys and
they cannot stand it ! Trey Wing-ding is the worst at hiding his jealousy. It's
quite humorous to watch them try to bring us down. They'll have to try even
harder now that TO's gone. Just where will they throw darts now ? The will think
of something.

ESPN really has slipped into the realm of tabloid journalism. They seem to have
vendetta's against the Cowboys and the Yankees. 2 cases in point, they fired
Rush Limbaugh for suggesting that Donovan McNabb's greatness was hyped because
of his race, but Cris Carter uses a gun analogy twice when referring to how he
would handle T.O. and wasn't disciplined at all. And look at the reporting on
the ARod and Manny Ramirez drug incidents. ARod admitted what he did and
apologized. Manny has yet to admit anything, but was suspended for 50 games and
has been a brat since he came back and they continue to hold him up as this
lovable goof who is the Dodger's savior.

ESPN doesn't need to bring South Oklahoma's team down, Jerry Jones the moron
will do that for them. BUT am sure they enjoy watching morons who still think
Dallas is a Super Bowl team, something they haven't done in almost TWO
decades....keep chanting America's Team...it has as much meaning as your playoff
record since 1996..ZILCH

Jerry's Losers is obviously a Saints fan. They all say the same thing - and they
are the only ones that bring this up whenever the Cowboys are being discussed -
"You guys haven't won a playoff game since 1996" to help make them feel better
about the fact that their team hasn't made it to a single Super Bowl in the
franchise's entire history.
40+ years of frustration sucks, doesn't it Losers?

ESPN forced out the only Cowboys realists they ever had--Michael and Emmitt. It
is painfully obvious that they have an anti-Cowboys bias, and this has and will
continue to erode their credibilty. "America's Team" is not a floating label
that can be placed on ESPN's flavor of the month, but rather a concept that has
been bred through the years of Dallas' illustrious history. As true Cowboys'
fans we know that, and it infuriates everyone else.

I love how ESPN let's Bill Simmons be an openly die-hard Boston sports fan, and
have his own column on ESPN.com. If it were any other town, it wouldn't be
allowed. I thought it was supposed to be neutral reporting? Oh wait, its Boston.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the "America's Team" moniker given to the
Cowboys by NFL Films? The other teams (Pittsburgh, Green Bay and New England)
all have loyal fans who travel really well. But their fanbases are concentrated
to the region they are from. The Cowboys truly do have a national fanbase and
are alot more suited for the title America's Team than any of the other 3. This
is just ESPN trying to make the news instead of reporting it.

MoneyShot has long referred to the Disney Evil Empire as BSPN, but it is true;
they are the World Wide Leader in Sports. They have 24/7 coverage on several
channels along with a magazine and a stout website. Is quality of their coverage
any better than Sports Illustrated or other news outlets? NO, but they are the
Walmart of sports coverage, they cover a lot.
MoneyShot praises Barry for having the juevos to call out BSPN, however, it's
awfully close to journalistic suicide.
MoneyShot agrees with the previous posters on the anti-Cowboy bias. The fact
that they are so blatant with it is what is truly disgusting. Then again, a
majority of the writers for the Dallas Morning News report are Anti-Cowboys too.
Look at the ratio of negative articles and blogs they compose.

ESPN abandoned their credibility in favor of ratings and sensationalism years
ago. Every time I think of that network I see Ed Werder's face and just want to
punch it.
ESPN needs 'America's Team' far more than 'America's Team' needs them. They can
stick their debate up their collective a$$.

LOL @ "The Way It Is"
Emmitt got booted off because he couldn't speak a lick of English, and couldn't
put a sentence together that anyone outside of his family could understand.. he
makes Shannon Sharpe look like William Shakespeare.
Irvin was dismissed due to his repeated drug arrests, filing false reports, and
various other legal run-ins.
No anti-Cowboy bias to speak of - just a company running its business the best
way it can.
