Thanks - I heard the same thing earlier this month from Dr. Dorfman,
but didn't want to post in case it didn't happen. You never know with
ABC, cancelling every one of their last 6 reality shows before they
finished.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed that ABC sticks with the October
air dates.

There may be power in numbers here. Where there's a will, there's a
way. And whatever I have to do, I am willing to do it. I saw the very
first show they ever aired, from the very beginning, and have wanted to
participate ever since. Maybe one of us could e-mail ABC?

How do we get ideas to Extreme Home Makeover. Is anyone at ABC reading
these? The city of Citrus Heights near Sacramento has adopted
D'Iberville, a town in MISS affected by the hurricanes. On December
17th Citrus Heights is delivering thousands of gifts for the victims.
I was hoping to bring Extreme Makeover there too and have them do
something as well. I thought it would help bring attention to the
place. If anyone knows how to get a hold of them, please let me know.
Thanks!! You can post a message here or email me at twsunburst@...

I honestly think the best organization to rebuild New Orleans is the
Extreme Home Makeover team. They have extensive coordination
experience; resource management experience; scheduling experience all
on a smaller scale, but they have all of the basics. They are popular
and well known with super contacts. A big plus...they are not
politicians!

Our government, with the exception of the Coast Guard, has set a
miserable example of preparedness. Our Homeland Security Tzar
disappeared after the President put him in charge of the federal
effort. We offer superior, expeditious aid in foreign disasters. Our
performance at home is so bad it is both sickening and disgusting.

The funding could come from all levels of government (so that the
resources would not be controlled by politicians), the public,
corporations. A new show called Extreme City Makeover could keep
track of the progress and keep everyone excited, informed and
uplifted until the City makeover was completed. Vendors like Sears,
Home Depot, Lowes, Manufacturers and other appropriate distributors
could donate items directly, just as Sears does now for Extreme Home
Makeover.

I honestly feel that everyone could get behind an effort like this
and we could all watch the progress weekly. Since Ty's energy seems
boundless, his country could offer him and his team the greatest
challenge ever...help this historic city, its residents and show our
President how to get the job done!!!!

I am wondering if the recepients of the makeovers have to pay income
tax on the cash benefit of the makeover? How do they then pay the
property tax on a house way beyond their means? And-does the show check
back later to see if the family is keeping the house up to ship shape?
Are they allowed to sell off the furniture and gifts if desired? How
long do they have to wait to sell the house? Another words--are they
resonsible recepients?

Now THAT'S thinking positive, because you sound like
you are definitly going to be on the show! I wish you
all the luck in the world and it would be exciting if
you got on for me to be able to say, "Hey! I've
written this person on-line!"

I also wanted to lose weight before I was chosen, but
was not successful. But I'm still trying to lose. I
wish you luck with your own diet. Just keep it healthy
and exercise.

I'm sorry more on the list are not replying to your
letter. Sometimes this list gets REALLY slow!

Take care and good luck!
Terry

Hi Terry, I apologize for replying five days later. I've been swamped
with work and family. Ugh!!! Thanks for answering my questions. :)

You never know, there still might be a chance. Maybe your application
is in a pending file for future shows. Only a limited number can be
chosen at one time, and there are thousands who apply. So continue to
pray and wish for the best. :)

I may consider sending in my application some this summer. I want to
drop at least 30 lbs beforehand just in case. lol I'm excited just
thinking about it. Being on national tv is going to be intimidating,
but it's definitely worth facing that fear.

Wishing you well, Zerumba

Hi Zerumba,

No, I didn't recieve any letter from the show saying I
wasn't accepted (I don't think they do that). I meant
I just never recieved a reply of any kind from them,
and from what I've seen on the list from folks who
were accepted, they seemed to contact them within a
few weeks or just a few months after they sent in
their applications--so since mine was sent off several
months ago with no reply, I assume they didn't choose
me.

I'm not aware of anything I "did wrong" on my
application--in fact, if I were a judge I would
definitly have chosen an applicant like me! My story
is interesting. Why they didn't choose me may have
more to do with the vast number of applicants they get
to choose from, and not necessarily that I'm not a
good choice.

And yes, I could keep applying over and over until
maybe that might "get me noticed"...but to be honest I
don't want to invest that much time in it. I sorta
believe if it were meant for me to be chosen, I would
have been on my first try. (That's just the way I look
at life.)

So if you really want to be on the show, you can
certainly keep trying again and again by putting in
applications.

Good luck with your application, and thanks for
wishing me luck with my own "personal makeover" using
exercise and diet. Let us know if you get chosen.

I'll let the others speak up who have actually been on
the show (I think we only have two members who have
actually been on the show, however).

Hey Extreme Makeover fans. This is my first message, even though I've
been a member for a few days or so. I love the show, and one day I'm
determined to be featured on the show as well. Im a huge fan and watch
it whenever I can. Good luck to everyone who shares the same dreams!

Hi Terry and Rhonda. :)

I'm sorry to hear that neither of you were selected. Can you both
reapply in the future or is the decision final? Also, does the show
give a reason why you were denied, or do did you just receive a basic
letter?

Despite the decision, I think Terry has the right idea. You can both
still make amazing physical transformations with hard work. :)

I've been thinking of sending in an application, and it would be nice
to know what I have in common with those who were or were not
selected to at least have an idea if I should actually apply. Would
all of you mind briefly describing your stories? Maybe a denial means
that you don't have much to improve on which is good news right?

Which members have been chosen? Congratulations to you all in
advance. And best wishes to those who have not been selected.

Zerumba

Ah yes, I second. I had high hopes for my app as
well. Doodles for those that did get selected. I'll
continue to try.

It's probably quiet for me because Extreme Makeover
didn't choose my application and I guess I'm a bit
disallusioned with the show now! Ha! Yes, I do realize
that they get TONS of applications...but for some
reason I sorta thought they would choose mine. Oh
well...

So I'm kinda going the "diet and exercise" route to
create "my own makeover"! Why wait on some show for it
to happen, right? True, diet and exercise won't take
the wrinkles out of my face or fix my nose...but
almost anyone looks better if they lose a few pounds
and gain some muscle mass. So that's been my new goal
and I guess it's taking me away from this list. So
sorry I've been quiet.

How's everyone else doing?

Terry

At the end of today's show there was a message that said in "loving
memory of", but I didn't catch the name. Can someone tell me who
recently passed away on the show? Thanks Ze

Dr. Dorfman is such a pleasure to watch. He always has such energy, and
the warmth he expresses towards his patients seems very genuine. I plan
to have dental work for my 40th birthday...a gift to myself. Thank God
I have a couple of years to save for the work because I'm sure it'll
cost an arm and a leg. lol Has anyone ever called his office for a
consultation? How pricey is it? Zerumba

I apologize for not remembering the names of the patients on tonights
episode. I think the last name of the gentleman with the cleft lip was
Oliphant, so I'll just call him Mr. O.

I'm happy the extreme team was able to transforms Mr. O's cleft lip and
smile. However, the greatest blessing of all is the love and support
that exists within his family. Now that his smile is beautiful, and his
confidence has grown, the sky is the limit with so much love
surrounding him. I cried everytime I saw this family together.:) Ze
